On Tuesday, Peter MacKay, Canada’s Minister of National Defence, and Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Veterans Affairs Canada, announced “Legacy of Care” – a suite of five new initiatives to support seriously injured men and women in uniform.
Our soldiers, sailors, airmen and airwomen put their lives at risk every day to defend Canadian sovereignty and fight for our values. Conservatives recognize that, as a result of these sacrifices, many of Canada’s Armed Forces personnel and their families face exceptional challenges. That’s why we are delivering on our commitment to those who have given up so much for Canada, and to the loved ones who put their own lives on hold in order to be caregivers.
Our Conservative Government is taking action for our men and women in uniform by establishing a legacy of care that improves the quality of life for seriously injured personnel and their families. The new initiatives will help support Canada’s Armed Forces members with their eventual reintegration into military or civilian life with their loved ones.
This announcement is another step in a series of concrete actions our Government is taking to deliver improvements in support and care for our Veterans and their families.
