Canadians across the country are seeing signs of relief after the global recession. But with our economic recovery still fragile, hard-working men and women in Canada’s aerospace sector can count on our Conservative Government to provide support.
The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program is – hands down – the best option for Canada. After the shameful period known as the “Decade of Darkness,” when the Liberal party gutted our military, Conservatives are taking action to rebuild our Armed Forces and support the Canadian economy.
Our Government’s investment in sixty-five F-35s will provide our Armed Forces with the equipment needed to face new and difficult challenges of the 21st century. It will replace our aging fleet of 78 CF-18s, and help us protect and patrol our own borders. And aerospace industry experts, including Claude Lajeunesse, President and CEO of the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada, have said that Canada will profit from highly skilled and well-paying jobs for decades to come.
In fact, every dollar invested in this program has the potential to gain $1.33 in return. And production opportunities across the country could reach $12 billion. Our action is helping create and maintain jobs, while securing future economic growth for Canada.
Unfortunately for Canadians, if it were up to the reckless Ignatieff-led Coalition with the NDP and Bloc Québécois, they would cancel the Joint Strike Fighter program, jeopardizing hundreds of thousands of jobs in our aerospace sector.
